Are You Preparing For Lifeline Screening?

If you are preparing for Lifeline Screening, this article should help.

Truthfully, there are few preparations involved with this kind of health screening other than fasting or wearing loose clothing. However, don’t make the mistake of thinking that it is not important because it is so easy to prepare. In fact, these tests can help save your life or help you live longer while enjoying the time more.

One good reason for getting Lifeline Screening is when you have certain risk factors associated with family history. The modern technologies that are used today in the diagnosis of illnesses are also used to help people find out if they have some health issues that have not yet been detected. With the information gained through screenings, it is possible to help prevent or retard the disease process.

This is why Lifeline Screening is so important to everyone, especially those who are 50 or older. The five screenings offered include a relatively simple test known as an EKG. This test can detect whether or not an individual has an irregular heart rate which is also sometimes called Atrial Fibrillation. Atrial Fibrillation is dangerous because it can allow blood clots to form. When blood clots are released into the blood stream, it could cause a stroke or heart related conditions.

Another screening test that is frequently used by Lifeline Screening is the one used to screen for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm. This condition is recognized by an enlargement of some area of the Aortic artery that could rupture if left untreated and that could be deadly. The enlargement may not be extreme when it is first detected, but it could get bigger if nothing is done to reinforce the artery walls. A stint is often the method used to do this, but that will not happen without proper screening to find the weakness.

The staff of Lifeline Screening is the best source for information about how to prepare for screening. They can let you know if fasting is necessary before being tested, or if you can eat anything you want within an hour of arriving at their site.

Maggie Gill | Steering Memorial University Medical Center through Rough Patch

Maggie Gill started her Memorial University Medical Center career as vice president of finance (in managed care) thirteen years ago. In 2005, she was named the company’s Chief Operating Officer and was later promoted in 2011 to President and CEO of the medical center.

Gill’s primary role as CEO is to offer leadership to the institution’s vice presidents, and medical doctors. She is also responsible for internal audits, doctor/government relations, orthopedic and neuroscience programs, preoperative services, the Heart & Vascular Institute, financial assistance, facilities management, trauma services, and corporate communications.

Before her leadership roles in Memorial University Medical Centre, Gill worked at Tenet South Florida Health system as Chief Financial Officer for five years. She received the CFO Tenet Outstanding award three times while working at the institution. She also managed operational functions at Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, Florida; Coral Gables Hospital in Coral Gables, Florida; and the North Shore Medical Center in Miami, Florida.

Gill graduated with Honors from the State University of Florida and later earned her MBA at Saint Leo University – Florida. She also completed coursework at Wharton School in strategic thinking and management.

Maggie Gill’s Solutions in the Face of Changes in the Health Care System

Maggie Gill convened with Memorial Health board members to express her observation of the Institution’s financial status. The CEO told the board that the health care system is losing income in the face of change in the healthcare setting as anticipated. However, Gill announced that Pathways to Excellence – (her initiative) identified $12.6 million in savings, as well as $7.5 million from Premier Inc., a Charlotte-based health Improvement Company.

Pathway to Excellence and Premier’s $20 million annual plan will assist Memorial Health to achieve results in the next 18 months and strategize for future opportunities. Gill warned that without a strong financial partner, MUMC would continue to face increasing cash problems, regardless of increased patients’ rate. She blamed the problem on the inability of patients to pay their bills and reductions in government claims for medical care.

She also reminded the board that MUMC is the only secure hospital in Georgia that does not obtain special funding. Gill revealed a new management plan to recourse Memorial health care over the next 18 months. The new program will help Memorial University Center to improve value by focusing on care delivery, duplicate testing, and patient recidivism while reducing problems and hospital illnesses. The plan will concentrate on original ideas to help the hospital meet future health care challenges.
